Experimenting

While the Black and White Tiger keeps me company in the backyard and watches closely what I am doing, she got a big surprise. Yes I am knitting with Purple!!
See I have this book and on the cover is this pair of socks that scream "knit me, knit me".
To make the hexagons one needs self striping yarn, and besides the Noro, there was no other experimental yarn than the green and purple/pink yarn that I got years ago at Knit picks.

Don't even know if these will fit, they are just fun to knit. A bit fiddly but fun.

We had a relaxing weekend, two more weeks until summer break. I can't wait!!

About walking and fish

Another very busy week behind us with a three day weekend as a reward! Two more weeks and then there is the long awaited summer break!!

We survived the first year of middle school, and our boy had to be picked up from his much anticipated science camp because he was sick. Turned out he ate something bad, and finally after a few days he is starting to feel better and eat normal again.

My fishies vest is done! Lucky for me it was not so nice weather last week, and I was able to wear it on Thursday. Talking about the weather, I love the rain, but there has to be an end to it. It is almost June and we still have cold weather and are wearing our sweaters and jackets, what's up with that??

The whole week we have been looking at the weather, hoping that it would be dry on Friday for our annual Trod. Turns out the weather was perfect, not to cold and not to hot.
The kids enjoyed themselves and had fun running and walking.

The carnival after the Trod was a big hit with young and old, and by the time I got home I was in need of a nap!

Hooray for the three day weekend!!

The hills are alive

If you know me, I am a real fan of the brown dry hills, not the lush green ones. Don't know why but I think they are really a pretty contrast against the blue sky.
Even better are brown hills with pretty flowers.

Wildlife watch

Of course it is one of these, And look we spotted wildlife too, this is the "slightly-confused-climber" , down or up was all he needed to know. We spend a few minutes watching but he could not make up his mind and we wandered on.

Squirrel!!!!

who was gathering the dry leaves right in front of me, and isn't he blending in nicely with the ground?

Beautiful butterfly.

And of course a thief who tried to steal our lunch, did not go over so well for him we ate everything.

Spring flowers

Pinnacles has lots of pretty flowers this time of year.

Next post, the wildlife.

Barcelona-Freddie Mercury/Montserrat Caballe-Ibiza Ku Klub

This gives me chills every time I listen to it!

Little Hike

This morning after my boys did their grocery run, and after I packed a picnic lunch, we headed out for Pinnacles. One of our favorite hikes for years, the Bear Gulch and if possible the caves.

The weather and the views were stunning,

To our surprise the campground was busy with lots of campers, and the nice young man who directed traffic told us we could drive all the way to the visitors center because there was one parking spot open. Amazing, they count their parking spots!!!
Usually it is not that busy.

More Fish

Although it was a very busy week, I still managed to knit on the fishy vest. The steeks are now in place and it is on to the home stretch.
I feel a little bit like this little lady, I want this vest so bad, and it is so much fun knitting until the next color it is hard to stop.

Last weeks of school are always so freakin' busy, if the rest of the school year is busy than this is times 10. Crazy.
We had a very delicious lunch at school today, donated by the wonderful people of a local church. The BBQ smell drifted over the schoolyard and made us all hungry. The tri-tip was to die for, not to mention the potato salad, fresh green salad, bread, veggies and cake.
Did somebody mention calories??? did not see any, serious!!
Hopefully the weather will cooperate this weekend and I get my podcast/knitting time in the backyard.

Fishy, fishy

Knitting fish out of Kauni Yarn, who doesn't want a vest with happy rainbow fish on it?? (yeah, yeah, I know only me)
Problem is with this yarn one can not stop knitting until the next color, what resulted in a whole Sunday spent outside in the garden knitting. And now I do have a sunburn, even if I sat in the shade.

Look at it, doesn't this ball of yarn look appetizing and makes you want to eat citrus fruits??

I can't wait to start the next round, yellow fish.....

It also makes me think of Dr. Suess
One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish,
Black fish, blue fish, new fish, old fish
some are red and some are blue,
some are old and some are new.
