Butter cubes

On a roll with sock knitting, I started this pair in the car on our way to Crescent City, and finished last night.

These are the cubist socks, pattern found here

Now what pair to knit next?? or finish my gloves??
Yeah, I think the gloves are in order, it is about a 100F still outside and it is almost 7.30
So looking forward to cooler weather!! (oh, and don't forget the rain, I love rain)

Treasures

School has begun, both for me and DS. For him two days after I started. He came home on Wednesday lugging a big bag of books. And his math book came with a little surprise from the previous "owner". What also came this week where the CST scores (California State Test) DS came close to the perfect 600!! (I think a bit of bragging is in place here)
DS is very pleased with his classes, the teachers and most important lots of his friends are in the same Acc classes.

My cute little nephew is also going to school, this Monday is his first day. I could not resist knitting him a pair of socks with a little pocket so he can keep his little treasures safe! Hopefully they fit!! This pair will make their way to The Netherlands soon, so he can wear them.

Of course there is some more winter knitting going on, only everything is halfway done.
One glove, from this lovely pattern.

And half a cardigan for my little niece. Knitted in one piece side to side, very interesting. I am knitting the 18 months size, hopefully she will still fit in it when it is done.

Bread balls and a bird

Whenever we BBQ something, DS requests "bread balls". Many have asked what they are, well they are regular rolls that you buy in the freezer section of the grocery store.
Here is the brand we buy.

I get them out of the freezer, apply some butter (or Margarine in this case) and sprinkle with garlic salt, and just put them on the top rack of the BBQ. (yes, frozen)

They are done when they look like this. And no worries there are going to be leftovers, DS could handle the pan all by himself if we let him.

And because pictures of bread rolls are not that pretty to look at, here is a Hummingbird.
This little guy (or girl), came by while I was taking pictures on Saturday.

We have them in our garden also, but they are usually to fast for me to run inside and get my camera. Sitting around and wait for them to show up does not work either. Believe me I have tried, the ones in our backyard might be camera shy.

Tomorrow, back to work and the crazy schedule. Bye, summer break I will miss you!!

More flowers

While I was crawling around, there was a photographer busy taking pictures of this girl. Her parents watching, while he "draped" her around the flower beds.

I have no clue how the pictures turned out, but if you ask me her purple dress in front of the Orange flowers are a big to much.
Don't you know that orange and purple clash??? and don't you know you are not supposed to pick the flowers here???

Anyway, she looked beautiful for her Quinceanera and her parents looked on with proud, I love that!!

the color Purple

Most of my friends know, I don't wear or knit with purple. Although my husband insist that it would look lovely on me. It could, but No thank you.
Purple flowers on the other hand look amazing, these are colored so intense you just have to look at them and kneel down for pictures!

So this last Saturday of my summer break is brought to you by the color Purple.
Now off to knit in the garden some more before I have to start dinner (fire up the grill that is)

Pink

These inspire me to knit very pale pink socks, don't know why...

Or maybe hot pink and yellow??

Or.....

Flower overload

Is there such a thing as color overload?? I love to go to this place, actually I should go more often. One of my favorite things to do is crawl around and take pictures with my Macro lens and the lens baby. And it is not even 5 minutes away from our home.

Next up, the color Pink!

Blinggggggggg

It took a while, but my bracelet is finished. Working on it every so often for half an hour or so.
I have to say it turned out really well, it might be that I am blinded by it because it is very shiny. And the shinier the better!!

Now I want to make another one in pinks and browns (I think).

The back yard door is open and the smell of BBQ-ed meat is coming in, it makes me very hungry!
Maybe if I go look over the fence and look very hungry they might feed me. Tomorrow we are going to smell up the neighborhood with our food, Ha, revenge!!

Knit watch

The Black and White tiger visits every day, I don't know what exactly it is but both she and I enjoy each others company. I knit, she watches me.

Today DS had a friend over and she decided that a good petting was in order and did not leave the boys alone.

Look at her, it is like she is saying "I am in your yard, watching you knit"

Cubist socks, in a happy yellow. This is a pattern that I really enjoy, fun and it looks very "cool".

I think we have to rename her, instead of Black and White tiger, it should be Diva.
